Hebrews 4:12. “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
In the 2006 annual report, then Director Andy Atkins compared the tapestry of his wife’s thread colors to the financial report. “As I contemplate the transformation ministry that is Emmanuel International, I picture my wife’s sewing box. It’s full of various threads -- all kinds of colors, thicknesses, naturals, synthetics, mixtures etc. Pretty much a jumbled mess! However, when she mixes and matches the various threads needed for a particular sewing project, out of the jumble comes beauty!”
This is the picture of the beautiful transformational tapestry that Emmanuel International wraps around each person we serve. The numbers of the 2006 annual finance report represented individuals, each wrapped in the beauty of God’s love. Transformation takes time. It is slow-moving, sometimes frustratingly so. The investment of prayer, time, energy, creativity and resources produce transformed lives made possible by the care and support of individuals, churches, donor agencies and more. These are the threads. Changed lives are the tapestry!
