Romans 5:8. "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Linda Fitzmaurice, from the EIUK office participated with a church in England which was sending a group of volunteers in 2015, She writes, “I was part of a short-term mission team to Ibumu, Tanzania. My church sent a group, aging from 16 to 72, to help build a science laboratory at the secondary school. We thought that we were going out to make a change in the village but we all came back changed ourselves, with a new perspective on what we consider to be important in our lives. The villagers were incredibly welcoming, and the beauty of the country was breathtaking. For me, the best experience was attending church in the village, a very different event to our usual services in the UK. The singing and dancing were inspiring. Worshipping together in Swahili (which we could not really understand) was still surprisingly familiar. I felt a profound sense of unity with my fellow believers as we knelt together to receive Holy Communion. It struck me that my church back home was doing the same that very Sunday… We were connected as one family in God, despite the distance!”
