Meet Shawn Boadway: “In the early 2000’s, my wife Bridget began working for Emmanuel International. I was still a university student when I began volunteering part-time with EI Canada in 2007, helping to create Direct Mail Appeals. I was then hired by Andy Atkins, at the time National and EI Canada Director, in 2008 to the full-time position of Promotions Coordinator. My job was to head up the digital media and publications department wherein I ran the website, created posters and brochures, designed direct mail appeals, and helped plan events like the annual banquet.
Fun fact: the current iteration of the EI logo inlaid with the world map was my creation from 16 years ago, in 2009!
I resigned in the Fall of 2009 to pursue a different career but continued to work part-time from home, maintaining and updating the website for the next 3-4 years. The best times spent at EICanada always involved being part of the larger EI family. There were so many wonderful people with whom to share that time of my life and work. The many connections and times shared together are what still stick out as significant memories for me when reflecting on that time of my life.
Running a department, being given the space to learn, create, and lead, and the time spent working with so many great people have all helped to prepare me for the challenges of what has become my current career in leadership and team building.”
