Sustainable Agriculture in Mwanza

Sustainable Agriculture in Mwanza

In Mwanza Region, agriculture is not just an occupation, it's survival. Across Tanzania, nearly 80% of the population depends on the land for their livelihood. Yet in Mwanza, farming families face persistent challenges: low rainfall, poor soil conditions, limited land, and practices that have led to weak harvests and deforestation. As a result, the region has long struggled to produce enough food to sustain its people.

The Conservation Agriculture project is bringing hope. Farmers are learning sustainable techniques that work with the resources they already have — enriching soil with organic compost, protecting it with mulch to retain moisture, and restoring the health of their land. These simple but powerful changes are strengthening harvests and protecting the environment for future generations.

Just as importantly, farmers are being encouraged to place their trust in God, recognizing Him as the One who brings growth and blessing. In a region marked by food shortages, we pray these practical tools, combined with faith, will lead to lasting transformation for families and communities.
