2 Timothy 1:9. “He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time,”
Those who have worked in mission work will be very familiar with the term, ‘prayer card.’ Martyn and Jill Hartley served with EI in the early 1990s. Here is their prayer card:
“Since accepting the Lord as our personal Saviour shortly after our marriage, we have been involved in a local church where missions have had a strong emphasis.
We thank God for the change that has taken place since we have made a commitment to follow Him. Goals and attitudes are different now. God has readied us for full time service. We are humbled as we realize that God does not want us for our skills and abilities, but for our availability in surrender to His will.
We examined what we were doing and realized that it was time to take our coats off and take decisive action. Relying completely on Him, Martyn has the opportunity to present the ministry of Emmanuel International in Canadian churches and Jill continues in the Canadian finance department.
Join with us as we give God the glory for the encouragement and continued understanding of our children. We ask that you pray for all of us as we work for Him.”
